The Dane County Historical Society has diligently worked on developing anĀ online catalog for many years. Today, anyone can review our catalog anywhere in the world from their computer, phone, or mobile device.
DCHS has been collecting archival materials since 1968 when it formed a three-way partnership with the Madison Public Library and the Dane County Historical Society.
That partnership dissolved, but DCHS found a new home at the Lussier Family Heritage Center in 2001. Along with the move, DCHS adopted the PastPerfect software developed by the American Association of State and Local History. Doing that allowed us to digitize the catalog and make it available to you online.
We urge researchers to consult the catalog before inquiring or visiting the archives since you may find what you want before calling or visiting. This allows us to help you more quickly with your research. If you are calling from a great distance, we may be able to copy or digitize the resource you are looking for and save you the cost and time of making a special trip to visit us.
